Optical Methods

Light-based methods of observing and manipulating aspects of biological function offer high precision that is not afforded by classical techniques. Several faculty in Biochemistry are developing and applying new methods of microscopy and optogenetics that can answer previously inaccessible questions about receptor and ion channel function, membrane trafficking and cellular signaling.
