Membrane Biology

Cells and their internal organelles are enveloped by complex sheets of phospholipids densely imbedded with integral and membrane-associated proteins that control the exchange of a wide array of ions, organic compounds and information.  Biogenesis, trafficking, fusion, and modifications of these lipid bilayers, as well as the signaling roles of various membrane-associated proteins are the focus of several faculty in Biochemistry.
