Molecular Neuroscience

The immense complexity of the brain emerges in large part from the molecular and cellular properties of neurons and glia.  Several faculty in Biochemistry are studying fundamental aspects of neurophysiology, including the neurotransmitter release machinery, synaptic receptor and ion channel function, neuronal development and degeneration and the metabolic regulation of synaptic activity.
